Its not WLP's position to decide what games to play.. Like I said people will play whatever they want regardless of our efforts..

We have tried pushing new games and ideas out there before only to be ignored (blockland anyone?).. If you want people to play a game it is up to YOU to get people to play that game, its not our job and nor would we care to try anymore.. Either the lan will naturally evolve to start playing that game on its own at its own time or it wont..

So basically we will support the games that real visitors do play.. Until software companies sponsor the event were in no hurry to promote any game over any other.. Well except Q3 > *

Drupi, dont get me started on WoW.. Its my opinion that MMRPG's need to be completely blocked (and I did for a while) on the network.. Its been eating away at the LAN experience.. You come to a LAN to play against the people at the LAN.. if you have a problem with that dont come to the damn LAN.. The fact that your on the network and refusing to play with other people who are complaining about not having anyone to play against is a disgrace to the idea of a LAN party.

If you play a MMRPG at a LAN you need to be ASHAMED of your self..

If they come in herds, like they usually do isn't that sort of wan/lan combination going on there?

I mean I don't want to take on the role as supreme nerf herder, but somebody has to right?

ok the reason I did unlock it was it was requested by a ton of people. They use the LAN as a way to either get their Guild together in one place and raid on WoW (actually promotes the whole this is a Social Gathering of Gamers) or they are playing between rounds in other games. Both of which i see no problem with.

I do agree for the most part MMO's really don't have a Place at a LAN Party, but from the Social perspective and maybe introducing other gamers to a possible new gaming experience they didn't really have an idea about before. So as of right now the MMO's will continue to be open for play at WLP. I won't lock them down unless people complain about bandwidth or about the p_layer_s themselves.

Hopefully Drupi's mind reading is getting better then... Skew or not why would anyone care to leave anything that will only get ignored.

I am no mind Reader and I'm presuming neither is Sciman so I would prefer people tell me what they want to play vs trying to guess.

This part of the reason why we where trying to get everyone to come out last weekend to talk to us and why we will be at mindscapes this Friday during after hours to Play UT3 and Talk more about this with anyone that shows up!

Ok I had to sit down and think about a response to network, internet, and power issues.

Network itself has been a non-issue now for several events. We where doing a Fiber ring for a good while but went away from it to go back in favor of a Star type setup (network cable from backbone switch to each individual switch). This was to improve redundancy so if a table dropped power the rest of the network was fine.. The only real bitch I have with the network is I want Gigabit!!!!!

Internet: unfortunately we are at the mercy of our host facility and their Tech support. They have done a big bandwith jump for us but it is a matter of them dropping the port into the right room and making sure that the switch is turned on.

Power. The only 2 issues that come to mind power wise was the 250 person event and a circuit breaker ended up going bad on us.(that is a fact i found out last event from maintenance as they replaced the faulty breaker) Also the kind that came in with a crt and a Kw Power Supply. When he moved tables the power failures followed him.

The other instance was last event people where daisy chained out like four power strips and caused the CB on the distribution box to fail.

To Rectify the Power issue I am working on a Flyer to give to people explaining proper hookup. We also plan to have that info up on a Projector Wall.
