I wanted to start this thread to allow users to add thier wants and needs for WLP.

As you may have heard I am helping Drupi out and am now in charge of setting up the events, simply put, it is my job to make sure YOU get what YOU want.

Sound off, let WLP Staff know what YOU want to see in the tournaments, open play, and otherwise...

We have a fantastic staff and seriously, if we can do it, we probably will.

What I would like to hear is ideas with tournaments, ideas for games, and ultimately I want to make your experience at WLP nothing short of awesome.

One such request(one that I suggested and others quickly got behind) was upgrading the network to Gigabit, and while network wide its still unnecessary, there was a large crowd *cough*3tek*cough* that wanted to get a speed boost over the normal 100 _base_ that most Lans use these days.

I want to hear your ideas, because truthfully just like above they have a real chance of coming true...

Thanks for the input in advance.

Just some ideas for an old man like me:

Put everyone on the same Workgoup to make file sharing easier or if FTP servers are used make sure we all are aware of them.

Announce which games will be played as open games so we can have them installed and set up a few days before the lan starts.

Make sure any mods, patches, or maps are easy to access and we are made aware of thier location.

The 1 hour Iron Man deathmatches seem to be very popular, I would like to see more than just 1 match during the entire lan. Not the same game but maybe pick 2 from Q3, Q4, FEAR, UT2004, HL2DM.

I know the lan party schedule is very unpredictable but the flow of information needs to be better organized. There needs to be better notification of official events as well as open gaming. Maybe also have set times for food breaks.

I hope I don't sound like I am knocking the events because I'm not. I have been attending them for 2 years and have had a great time at every one of them. The time and effort the staff puts into these events is greatly appreciated.

I like the idea of Information display.

We do have several of the things you are talking about, but we could do better to share that information with everyone.

We will have to see about tournaments, but we can certainly have more than one iron man round! I like this idea, and if it is a popular one then we will pursue this.

One thing that was going to be implemented for October Lan were some projectors, at least 4, showing Game Stats, Tournament status, Server status, and we could of course add in some information about the network.

With SMB getting similar file shares is not impossible or even hard, but this would require participation from everyone. There are some main popular share points that perhaps could be populated within one Sharename if the powers that be would agree to it. (3tek, myself, drupi, other terabyte min. filesharers)

We also are trying to decide upon the best course of action to accommodate file sharing, SMB burdens even the gigabyte network when everyone starts doing it, so there is some talk about what we should try to do so that everyone has the best experience possible on the network.

And I would like to emphasize, we want to improve and keep the Lan Party fun, so all comments are more than welcome, In the end, if everyone has fun, then we did our job and that is our aim!

I enjoy these kinds of comments so please keep them coming!

Rave, I love you in the non-gay heterosexual way.

You and a handful of others (Bubba, 3tek, etc.) have always been vocal about what you wanted. We have tried very hard to make that happen but as you know funds for the event are very limited. Sciman has in's with a few places to help us out which is one way we can make stuff better.

Like sciman said starting this event all server info, stat's, and all other event info will get decimated out in some way. Iwantmy$2 will be keeping info up to date on the projectors at the event and Sciman and I will keep you informed on the website and through email.

I will try not to be a spamwhore with the emails but I also have to appease our sponsors when it requires it.

Which is my next question to everyone:

Would you rather have more open play tournaments or cash tournaments. I have tried both to get people in but with limited success. Iornman Tournaments are fun and I will work with Sciman to do more of them. A bonus of doing Iornman is it is easier to get sponsors to give us prizes vs a 5v5 or other team game. Kinda sucks that way but hey marketing budgets are tight right now.

We try to dream of things we can do, but ultimately if you guys want to see something, it wont change unless you suggest it!

I would be more than happy to hear of ideas/complaints from you guys, so please post your thoughts.

Well as mentioned and we spoke about it at the october lan drupi. one big workgroup. I personally don't know what I want when I have such a huge list of things I could randomly download and I really don't like bothering with FTP software(i'm jsut that friggin lazy).

Of course we also spoke about the program that you were trying to get from (nayr?) that was used a while back.

Also..granted right now I noticed there wasn't much sponser gear. I want to stress that i'm not complaining about the small amount of items. However I do want to say that at times when there is more donated gifts and stuff etc etc.. perhaps we could implement the raffle system once again for some of the prizes. This mainly is something that I would like to see since I personally are on a tight budget and can't play some of the games that the tournoments are run on due to old equipment, lack of paid steam account so on and so forth.

Also, (give me a minute to rethink what else I was going to say.) I still see that we are having user interface problems with power. Seriously, I know that it's nothing you can really do about but stress to them not to daisy chain!
