I need a dual vga vid card 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 1
So I just got married and need to set up a nice "clean" looking computer desk for us to work on. We were given an lcd monitor as a wedding gift and I'm going to buy another:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824116065R

I have two computers that will be connected to these monitors, but we would also like the ability to use both at the same time on the nicer computer. I have a kvm switch to deal with the switching, but I need to get a dual vga video card.

My question is... the majority of vid cards I see out there are dvi... so should I get one of those and use dvi -> vga adapters? or should I try to get a dual vga card? Any suggestions on what card to get?

We won't be doing much, if any, gaming on these computers, but the dual screens would be nice for some video/photo editing that my wife likes to do... any input would be helpful!

go ahead and Get the Dual DVI... They usually come with the adapters for the older analog stuff. Also might want to look and see if your LCD's support DVI

yeah, they only have vga...

so they come with adapters? that's good to know... what about signal/picture quality? do you lose anything going from dvi to vga?

You won't notice any difference unless you are on a LCD that supports DVI. Even then you probably won't notice

Well, here's the card I ended up getting:

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814150210

It's working fine and I'm happy, except that all video playback is horribly dark. It doesn't matter what video format or what software I play video on, it's always dark.

I tried using the nvidia control panel to adjust video settings. It helped some, but still has whacky colors. Any ideas? Is this an LCD thing or video card problem? All other applications look great at 1440x900

You should have bought the card I am selling. I would have thrown in 2 dui to vga Adaptors
Granted it's PCI-E and you need AGP
