Summer LAN 2007 - Lessons Learned 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 2
Ok, this was my first organised public LAN i attended, and having done so learned a few things. So others can learn from my mistakes, i'll clue you into them. Actually, you'll probably just laugh at me, but that's cool too.

Lesson 1: When packing your hardware, make sure you don't inadvertanly loose anying in a public place. Replaceing stuff is expensive.

Lesson 2: When you loose your mouse, video games are hard to play.

Lesson 3: Daisy chaining surge protectors dosn't add any extra protection, just extra headaches.

Lesson 4: Computers don't like power outages.

Lesson 5: Just because you think you might not need something dosn't mean you won't. This inclues but is not limited to gaming software, computer repair kits, and extra cash.

Lesson 6: Computers don't like power outages.

Lesson 7: Bawls Guranna is a good excuse for a bad joke.

Lesson 8: Real names arn't really all that important. Physical features and nicknames ARE.

Lesson 9: Did i forget to mention that power outages suck? I did? ok.

Lesson 10: Three against one does not always insure victory.

Lesson 11: Four caffinated, sleep deprived, LAN admins can make for an awesome end to a LAN.

and finaly lesson 12: The WLP is something that should NOT be missed.

Here is thanking you guys to an awesome first LAN. I hope to see you all in the fall.

Glad everyone is enjoying our events! Yes the WLP admins once we hit 5 or 6am we are pulling 24+ hours being up most of the time.

Physical Features are actually no big deal, you nickname and having a good sense of humor is!

Yep WLP will be back in the fall if your planning to travel to Midwest LAN War in KC in September we will see you there as well!

Obviously I failed Lesson 12...

As from past expirence of attending NETWAR in Omaha, NE, I also learned alot of those lessons the hard way.

As far as my attendance, I should finally be able to make it now that I have a friend who is moving to Wichita, and that way i'll have a place to rest before making the 2 hour trek home (Wouldn't be a problem if the lan didn't end at 6 AM). But yeah, glad to hear everything went ok.

Its rewarding to hear the people who had a fun time. I again emphasize how much work the Admins spend, as a new Admin myself, I am surprised how well thought out and well managed these guys really are.

We hope to see you guys out in the fall!

And please tell us what you think can be improved and what elements you would like to see incorporated to the party!
